This boy, Finch, the son in the book who took inappropriate pictureS of a passed out girl (and you find out he did this to many girls) and tagged it with a racist message and sent it to his friends, lied about it, manipulated the girl afterward about it and acted like he really liked her and had sex with her to try to get out of getting into trouble, blamed his ex gf for taking the picture and painting "slut" on the other girl's house (this ex gf was already struggling with mental issues and these false accusations contributed to her trying to take her own life after he falsely blamed her for these things) - yet, in the VERY RUSHED end of the book, through a short epilogue, you see that Finch didn't receive any consequences for his actions through his school, still got to go to Princeton, had zero legal action taken against him, didn't speak to his mother during his years at Princeton since the mom sided with the girl who was the victim of his assholeness, etc.... yet the mom, Nina, "never gave up on him, though, and sent him long, handwritten letters every week, until at some point he returned to her." Their son, Finch is on his way to Princeton having done exceptionally well at Windsor Academy, the city’s prestigious private school.
