Launch of Discussion Paper on Social Progress Index: States of India

The Discussion Paper on Social Progress Index: States of India was launched at India’s National Competitiveness Forum 2017 by Michael Green, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Progress Imperative. The paper analyses the social progress of twenty-eight Indian states and one Union Territory (Delhi) for the period 2005–2016 by applying the Social Progress Index framework.

“We are thrilled to support the partnership between NITI Aayog and the Institute for Competitiveness as India works to benchmark social progress in great detail across 28 states and one territory,” said Michael Green. “We look forward to seeing how innovative leaders in government and business use this new map of human wellbeing to improve the lives of people across the subcontinent.”

The purpose of this paper is to invite the readers to share their feedback and comments on the proposed Social Progress Index, States of India by July 10th, 2017.
